Dear travel lover, you are in luck today! Welcome to Infodiaries blog. Today we share a curated list of the top 10 cheapest vacation destinations in 2024. Pack your bags, fasten your seatbelts, and join us on a thrilling journey to the most enchanting and affordable corners of the world
10. Romania
With a very efficient public transport system, moving around in Romania is no herculean task. It has loads of free parks too where you can kick off your shoes and have some fun! Food, accommodation and drink are also very cheap in Goth Haven (well, that’s what Romania is known for)
I advise booking a hostel with a communal kitchen and checking out local food markets instead of dining at restaurants. Helps you save more money.
Oh, and another fun fact. Did you know that Netflix’s 2022 movie ‘’Wednesday’’ was filmed here? Well, now you do.
9. Georgia
Grossly underrated by tourists, Georgia has a little bit of everything interesting. You would be surprised to know that it is even more enthralling than most of your popular travel destinations. It has a load of old castles and churches and beautiful scenery.
For all of its beauty, you get to save a lot of money. For instance, you can rent a shared hostel dorm for $5-$10 per night. Most of the interesting activities here are also cheap, food and transport are cheap while still being top-notch.
What else is needed to enjoy a vacation on a budget?
8. Cambodia
Without roughly $40-$50 USD per day, you can survive well in this interesting country. A quick breakdown shows that $2-5 USD would get you nice street food, $25 USD will cover accommodation in a private air-conditioned room while the remaining $20 USD will be just enough for transportation. It is also home to Angkor Wat and you might want to visit while you are there.
7. Thailand
Thailand is the heart of backpacking in Southeast Asia and it is really one of the most inexpensive locations any traveller should consider.
You’ll also find out that accommodation is cheap, food is cheap (and delicious), and several of the attractions too require little or no money. With roughly $30 USD, you will be good to go for an entire day in Thailand. With a little more money, say $60 USD, you can even enjoy expensive lodgings and the islands.
Be careful not to fall excessively in love with the place though. It usually has that effect on people.
6. Colombia
Without going out of your budget, you can enjoy very modest accommodations, and good food, and also explore the rich cultural heritage of the South American nation. There are loads of captivating places to explore too so you can as well book that flight to Colombia right away
5. The Balkans
The Balkans is probably the best place in southeastern Europe to travel to if you are on a tight budget. It is largely undiscovered but that does not reduce its magnificence in any way.
Think cheap food, breathtaking hiking trails, and electrifying nightlife? Think the Balkans.
The best part of it is how much you can get by within a day. Wanna take a wild guess? Well, with just $30 USD, you are good to go.
It won’t be long before the secret is out and the crowds start pouring in. So, if you want to experience this least-explored region of Europe, I suggest you plan your visit before prices skyrocket and it becomes the next big thing.
4. India
India is one terrific but cheap location to visit. Trust me, it will be a big task for you to spend up to $45 USD per day in India – unless you splurge on Western meals and 5-star resorts. Even the popular Taj Mahal costs just $13 USD to enter. This is to show just how affordable the country is.
3. Portugal
Oh, beautiful Portugal. It is one of the best bargain countries in Europe and with its beautiful beaches, dashing seaside cliffs, delicious food, historic cities and lovely inhabitants, it is bound to steal your heart immediately after you step foot on it.
You get by per day at about $50-$70 USD. The cost of living in places like Lisbon has shot up but if you can move outside of the capital, you can have a good time on your cheap budget. You can take my word for it.
2. Poland
If the idea of minimising expenses in this country isn’t enough to convince you to visit, then the allure of several museums you could check out will – and many are free.
Away from museums, what else does Poland offer? An unbelievable nightlife and food, good food. Their transport system is very solid and if you prefer to walk, the picturesque scenery of the country will make the experience exhilarating for you.
1. Slovenia
Surprised to Slovenia top this list? Well, you won’t be by the time you experience this location alone.
The natural beauty of this location is surely going to blow you off your feet – that I am 100% sure of because it did the same to me!
One pro tip for you though. Try flying into a neighbouring country and boarding the coach from there. This will even reduce the cost of your trip to Slovenia. Don’t thank me. What are friends for?
And there you have it. Thanks for sticking with us till the end of this video and let me know in the comments section which of these locations you would love to explore.
