10 Best Places To Visit in Cuba

Cuba has been that go-to location for an amazing vacation or getaway for some time now. With some stunning architecture and white-sand beaches, it always impresses. Here are 10 places to visit for that 10/10 Cuba experience.

At number 10, we have the town of Trinidad which has a profound “time travel” effect on visitors.

What am I talking about? Well, the cobblestone streets in the city give off colonial vibes. That is mainly down to most of the buildings dating as far back as the 17th century. The era of sugar and slave trade, yeah that’s what I’m talking about and boy, did the city prosper then.

That’s not all that there is to the city though. A visit to this place means you have the chance to indulge in horseback riding or explore the lively Plaza Mayor, the Ancon Beach and the Iznaga Tower.

At number 9, we have Paradise Beach. This beach stands a head taller in beauty than all other beaches that Cuba boasts of. This Beach is a long stretch of the most beautiful powdery white sand you’ll ever see and the fine blue sea. The water is shallow and calm and you should be on the lookout for the several starfish spotted here. If you ever get thirsty, there is a beach bar to order drinks and some lunch too.

Interestingly, some sections of this beach are clothing-optional. Who would have thought it was also a nudist’s dream place?

At number 8, we have Baracoa. Baracoa is one place I’m sure will sweep you off your feet. It is the oldest city in the country and you should know that some of these oldies have all the rizz.  It has a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve where you can find some really rare birds and plants. It also has some cool colonial architecture and what’s there not to love about the countryside that has pretty beaches and waterfalls?

You can go see  Catedral de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, supposedly on the site of the first church to be erected in Baracoa. Absolutely recommended.

At number 7, we have El Nicho Waterfalls. You thought nature was done showing off in Cuba? Hold my beer! El Bicho Waterfalls is another fantastic slice of nature that will make a warm feeling of satisfaction run through you after visiting it.

The multi-tiered falls here all run into several jungle pools and taking a dip in these pools might be the single most relaxing thing you will do in Cuba.

Getting to these waterfalls is a whole new adventure though – twisty, rough roads but then, it is well worth it. Why do I say so? Well, aside from taking a dip, you’ll get to see Cuba’s National bird, the Tocororo or be entertained by the sight of the barman, an award-winning cocktail maker preparing his speciality cocktail.

At number 6, we have the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes. Are any art lovers watching this video? It’s hard not to bring something special to y’all. If you’re ever in Cuba, then I highly recommend visiting Museo de Arte Cubano. There is a spectacular collection of post-modern and impressionist Cuban artists and sculptors here and the museum itself is a beautiful art-nouveau-inspired building

Know the best indication that you will have a good time at the museum? The Form, Space and Light marble sculpture at the entrance of the second building. It is more like an appetiser for what awaits you!

At number 5, we have the Peninsula de Zapata National Park. If outdoors is your favourite place to be, then you should visit here for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. This is Cuba’s largest national park and also one of the largest wetlands in the Caribbean. There is a lot of wildlife to explore and around 150 bird species, such as waterhens, parrots, and herons, along with the crocodiles. So, oh ye Bird watchers, scuba divers, fishermen, and nature enthusiasts, make sure to drop by this park. You may be lucky enough to spot Zazu here. Who knows?

At number 4, we have Valle de Viñales. This is one place where you can spend one whole week and not get bored at all. Known for tobacco production, this area is well worth a visit. There are several tobacco farms along the road and once you get there, you will immediately get immersed into the calm nature of the place. The locals are very welcoming and there are lots of activities to enjoy – taking a walk on the beach, hiking, horse riding through the tobacco fields and many more. Many visitors have been reported to need to remember that they have work emails and a life to get back to after arriving at this place. Don’t be like them.

At number 3, we have Varadero Beach. I’ve not seen even one person who visited Varadero Beach and left unimpressed. Think you can be that person? I assure you not! Varadero Beach is all shades of astonishing. Crystal clear water. Zero seaweed. Just gorgeous blue water. What can trump that?

I wouldn’t normally disclose this little secret of mine but hey, what are friends for? Now, draw closer a bit. The best way to experience this beach is by visiting with your romantic partner.

The inviting waters and beach sand that feels like powder is the best place to create memories. Imagine taking a walk along the beach, enjoying the weather and with your hand firmly clasped in your partner’s. You and I know just how nice that sounds

I’ve seen a yawn or two escape your lips and I know it’s probably because I’ve gone on and on about beaches and stuff like that. Well, here is something unique for you.

At number 2, we have the Che Guevara Mausoleum. This mausoleum in Santa Clara town is where Guevara’s body was laid to rest and it is the absolute bomb! It is like Santa Clara’s main attraction along with his monument, the Memorial Comandante Ernesto “Che” Guevara. You should visit as it will help you connect more with Cuba’s history and you can also get a peek at Che Guevara’s bronze statue when his final letter to Fidel Castro is etched. However, filming in the museum is prohibited.

On the number 1 spot, we have Cuba’s capital city.

Havana is the colourful capital of Cuba and it is a place where you get a taste of everything from culture to history and down to beautiful architecture.

You can visit Old Havana and the Catedral de San Cristóbal which dates to 1776, yeah, almost as old as the US Constitution.

You can also join the open-air bazaars and parties that last all night.

But one thing is sure and that is this- you’ll have a magical time in Havana!

I trust you will love to know what everything on this list feels like. So, next time you’re in Cuba, go ahead and visit as many places on this list as you can.

It’s gonna be an unforgettable experience!
